Do you ever go to the store and get confused about all the fancy labels? 🧐 We see things like "no high fructose corn syrup", "organic", "non-gmo", "grass-fed" etc. Sometimes it's hard to keep track of what it all means! 🤷 Let me tell you a little bit about why I encourage eating organic and non-gmo food as often as you can. šŸ“ GMO's are genetically modified foods. Scientists can take the genes of a plant and change them to become more disease resistant or to produce more fruit. šŸ‘©ā€šŸ”¬ This is great in areas of the world where there is a lack of food. But, changing the genetic makeup of our food makes it more difficult for our bodies to digest properly. 🦠 There are also unknown risks to introducing different genes into a food. Because of this, it's better if we can avoid genetically modified food! šŸ™…ā€ā™€ļø Another common label found is "organic". Organic just means that there were no chemicals like pesticides or herbicides sprayed onto the crops while they were growing. 🧪 For meat, it means that the animals ate foods that weren't treated with chemicals. 🌾 It's been found that the chemicals sprayed onto crops can cause free-radical and toxin buildup in our bodies. āš ļø This can cause us a lot of health issues! While I encourage healthy eating, organic, and non-gmo food, I also encourage balance. āš–ļø Eat as healthy as you can, but don't feel guilty for eating a treat or having a pizza night šŸ• if you need it! I believe that we should be more focused on the kind of person we are becoming instead of thinking about every little thing that we eat! šŸ˜‰
