Postpartum OCD

Updated: Dec 6, 2019

Have you ever heard of Postpartum OCD? 🤔 Postpartum OCD occurs more frequently in women who already have OCD, but can develop in anyone. OCD is characterized by having any kind of obsessive behaviors or thoughts. Many times, Postpartum OCD will show up in the form of intrusive, disturbing, or obsessive thoughts about your baby. 😢 This can be a very scary time for a new mother when she realizes that she is obsessively worried that her child will die, that she might drop her baby, or cause harm in any other way. In some cases, thoughts of harming her baby might cross her mind. Although these thoughts might be persistent, there is an almost 0% chance that she will act on them. It’s important to note that Postpartum OCD has also been found in a certain percentage of fathers, as they might develop some of these same thoughts. New Dads need help as well! 👨‍👧 If you feel that you are dealing with obsessive, intrusive, or disturbing thoughts, I want you to know that you are not alone and that there is help out there. You are a wonderful mother and the perfect person to be taking care of your sweet baby. ❤️ My heart goes out to you! Give me a call, and we can work together to find a much happier postpartum life for you. 👶
